Hey parents-

I am absolutely thrilled to have been asked to start a PTO at ACS!!!   We had our first meeting on June 9th.  I just wanted to do a quick follow up from our first meeting.  The turnout was great considering it was the first week of summer and several families were on vacation.  In case you were there here is a "quick" recap of what you missed.

In a nut shell - here are the things we want to accomplish and need your help!

We want to be in the community so that we can increase the awareness of ACS.   We lined up community awareness activities every month for the first semester of the year starting now. See the attached PowerPoint for all of the details.

On June 27th we are going to have an ACS Work Day to spiffy up the school for the coming year. We have asked the teachers and Jeanna for a to do list and depending on how many people show up will determine how far down that list we get.  Please plan on helping that day even if it is only for a couple of hours. Stay tuned for an email with more info on this day...

Another thing we want to focus on is how parents can help.  I think lots of parents want to help but honestly just don't know how and where they can add value.  We have come up with a list of things we want to do this year and want everyone to consider how they might help.  Some people might be able to do one thing but do it really well while others might be able to sign up for everything.  Every little bit will make a huge difference I promise.

As Brother Rodney discussed in the last open house, there is a gap between what the school collects for tuition and what it actually costs to run the school.  In order to fill that gap - ACS has two fund raisers a year - the big one being our Fall Auction and Dinner.  It is sneaking up on us and it will be here before we know it.  We need every family to donate a minimum of 2 auction items.  Keep that in mind this summer as you are going out to eat, shopping in stores etc.  Lora Duffy has generously agreed to be our chef for the evening with each students' family donating $5 for the supplies.  This is huge as we will be able to keep 100% of the proceeds from dinner tickets sold.  On the PowerPoint you will see that there are committees that have been established and I would ask you to pray about where you would like to be involved.

To do some of the things that we want to do, we will obviously have to have some money. We do not want to take out of the operating account of the school so the way the PTO will be funded is through small fundraisers like boxtops for education, Tyson Project A+, Office Depot 5% back program, goodsearch.com etc.

At the meeting we had sign up sheets for:

If you haven't already done so, please let me know where you would like to be plugged in.

Specific needs that are coming up within the next two months:

Hope you are having a great summer!  Looking foward to seeing you all on July 7th!

ACS Parent, ACS PTO President and most importantly, your sister is Christ...
