Meet the ACS Board
Marilyn Wilson - Secretary
Hi, my name is Marilyn Wilson and I am the secretary of the Board of Directors. My husband and I have been married almost 54 years. We have two children, Tommy and Lauren, seven grandchildren and two great grandsons. I have two grandchildren who attend ACS, one going into third grade and one going into kindergarten. It is an honor to serve on the Board of Directors as I have a passion for quality, Christian education. I am a member of First Baptist Angleton where I teach 1st & 2nd grade and sing in our choir. My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. “
Mindy Burch
I appreciate the opportunity God has given me, as it is a great honor to serve on the Angleton Christian School Board. My heart is for children and giving them opportunities to learn more about God, realize how much he loves us and train them up in the way they should go. I was saved at a young age and baptized when I was 12 years old. I owe everything to God, as with him all things are possible. Looking back over the years, I can see his hand on my life, guiding me in the direction he has for me and my family and drawing me closer to him.
I have lived in Angleton all my life. I am married to Jeremy Burch and have two children, Tynlee (13), Lane (22) and Daughter-in-Law Kristina. I was recently blessed to be a GiGi, with the birth of our Grandson Leevye. I graduated from Angleton High School and have an Associate of Applied Science degree from Brazosport College. I also have NIGP CPPB and NIGP-CPP procurement certifications. I have worked for Brazoria County since 1999 and am currently a Sourcing Manager in the Purchasing department. I have been a member of Life4square Church in Angleton since 2016, currently serving a 3rd term on their financial council and continue to serve in multiple areas of the church helping others. In my extra time, I enjoy camping and spending time with family.
My favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 MSG: Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track.
I look forward to seeing God's plan for growing ACS and him guiding the children and staff through their ACS journey. I thank him for helping the Board make the best decisions we can and advising us on the important matters of the school.
Pamela Brooks - Vice President
Hello friends, my name is Pamela Brooks and the most important blessing I ever received was the day I accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of 8 at Long Pond Baptist Church in Angleton. I was born in Waxahachie, Texas but I have been raised my whole life here in the purple pride of Angleton with my sweet family. I have been blessed by God to be married to my lifelong friend and fishing partner Darren Brooks for 21 years. God blessed us again with our beautiful son Trevor Ethan who has spent his entire educational journey at ACS graduating in 2023. I enjoy gardening, water sports, singing and music. I am part of a loving praise team and choir at FBC in Angleton. I enjoy studying God’s word and sharing the love of Jesus where I can. I teach an adult neighborhood bible study, children’s church and a new believer’s class at FBC for children who have made a profession of faith.
I have always had a heart for education for myself and others and hold the entire educational and spiritual journey in high esteem. I graduated from Angleton High School and went on to graduate from University of Houston Clear-Lake with a BS in Psychology and a MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology and a Graduate Certificate from George Mason University in Community College Education. I have taught public school in Virginia and adjunct college courses for over 10 years in several post-secondary institutions most recently at Brazosport College. I am currently a Broker/Associate with my family business Paula Mutina Properties for the last 20 years and I am the Financial Wellness Coordinator at Brazosport College.
There is no greater cause in my life, and it is a privilege to serve on the ACS board and in whatever capacity God has for me in His school. I have personally seen how ACS has supported and encouraged my family since the very beginning when the vision was given by Brother Rodney Bowman at FBC in 2004. I am committed to ensuring this quality Christian education is available to families for generations to come. My favorite book of the bible is Isaiah 58 and the memory verse that provides comfort and hope to me is Psalms 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God.”
Becky Holley
I grew up in the Texas City/LaMarque area and attended the local Baptist church with my family. I accepted Christ as an 8-year-old and learned from my parents’ example to be a committed servant. When I moved to Angleton 28 years ago, I immediately sought a church where I could plant roots and find my place in ministry. Since then, I have been serving at First Baptist Church here in Angleton. My passion for children led me to teach in the children and youth
areas, and I can truly say that I’ve taught ALL ages. When Rodney Bowman presented God’s vision for ACS, I was on
board for being part of the mission, but never truly knew how God would use me until I was asked to serve on the Board last year.
My work experience has been based around children. After graduating from University of Houston at Clear Lake with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, I knew that I wanted to help children and families. Ten years of counseling and managing grant programs for children’s mental health led me to pursue teaching students with
learning challenges. I obtained a special education K-12 certification, and over the past 25 years I have taught in both private and public education. Working with a variety of special populations, I’ve had an opportunity to see the mental, physical, and spiritual challenges children face, and I thank God every day for the opportunity to share God’s love and help them to reach their potential. In addition, I have specialized in the areas English as a Second Language (with certification) and international student services. I am currently the interventionist at West Columbia Elementary. Therefore, I believe that my passion for children and experience provides a unique perspective to the ACS Board.
I am blessed with a wonderful, loving husband who has supported God’s vision for ACS and shares my passion for teaching from a Biblical worldview. My son, Cole, blesses me with his caring and kind heart, and I thank God for him and my stepchildren as well. In my spare time, you can find me singing in the choir/praise team, hiking, working out at the gym, attending musical performances, and taking unique adventures with family and friends. When I retire my motto will be “Hiking is my retirement plan, Lord willing.”
In closing, I genuinely believe my life’s
calling is consistent with the message found in I Peter 4:10, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” Therefore, I pray that Iserve the ACS Board in a way that pleases the Lord.
Pastor Shawn Thomas - Spiritual Advisor
My name is Shawn Thomas, and I am the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Angleton. Angleton Christian School began as a ministry of our church, and I serve as Spiritual Advisor to the ACS School Board. My wife Cheryl & I both grew up in Oklahoma, and we served in churches in Oklahoma and Louisiana from 1986 until 2012, when I became ill with dysautonomia (POTS) and was out of full-time ministry for 2 years. The Lord restored my health, and I have since served as pastor in North Carolina, and as senior pastor here at FBC Angleton since February 2019. Cheryl & I both enjoy reading, OU football, going on what we call "Field Trip Fridays" to interesting places in Texas -- and especially our eleven grandchildren, who are scattered throughout North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Austin, TX. I am excited about what the Lord is doing at ACS, and it's my privilege to pray for our Board, and for the Lord's hand of blessing to be upon our school!
Dr. Amy Baker
My name is Amy Baker, I have served on the Angleton Christian School Board of
Directors since 2021. I was born and raised in Brazoria County, and I am married
to my high school sweetheart, Joshua Baker. We have 3 kids, Cailee (11), Chloe
(9), and Caden (4). We are members of West Oaks Church in West Columbia
where I serve in the children’s church. I graduated from Dental School in 2013
and now practice in West Columbia. I own 3 dental practices with my uncle and
cousin. Dentistry has allowed me the opportunity to serve on mission trips to
Nicaragua and Peru. I have also served in other community organizations
including the Pregnancy Help Center where I taught dental hygiene classes to
expecting parents. Most of my free time is spent with my family. Between,
juijitsui, soccer, rodeo, baseball, piano, violin, and guitar, our kids keep us busy.
We love camping and spending time at the beach. I truly feel that God has
called me to serve on the ACS board. I see it as an honor and a privilege. Our
mission in this life is to live out God’s will and to spread the gospel. Christian
education allows us the opportunity to raise Christian leaders to go out and
further God’s kingdom. I feel extremely blessed to play even a small part in this
mission.

My name is Justin Smith and it is my honor to serve as President of the ACS Board. I was born in Angleton and, apart from a few years in college, I have lived in Danbury my entire life. I met and married my wife, Kristi, while we were students at East Texas Baptist University. We have been married for 22 years and God has blessed us with 5 wonderful children: Carter, Kendall, Kinley, Jackson and Jenson. All 5 of our children have had the privilege of attending ACS since Kindergarten and our oldest graduated from ACS in May of 2024. Our family is grateful for ACS and the role the amazing teachers and staff have played in shaping our children. I have a degree in finance and own and operate an independent insurance agency in Angleton. My family and I are members of Community Baptist Church in Danbury where I serve as an Elder, volunteer in the youth program and my wife and daughter participate in the praise band. This phase of life is extremely busy for our family, but we love supporting our kids in all their activities. God has abundantly blessed ACS, and I am excited to see where He leads in the years ahead.
