Breck Koelemay
Head of School
I’ve been with ACS for about seven and a half years, starting as a substitute teacher. Growing up on a ranch in Southeast Texas, I saw firsthand the wonders of God’s creation (that’s probably why I became a science teacher). After graduating from Lamar University, I taught JH science and coached at West Columbia Junior High. From there, I moved on to Angleton High School teaching different science subjects and continued coaching a variety of sports. After nearly 30 years of teaching, I left education with the intent of taking over my family’s ranch. While there, it became obvious that I wouldn’t be taking it over but helping my dad close it out. Once that happened, I returned to education teaching at ACS. I met my wife Pam while both teaching at WCJH and have been married nearly 34 years. We have two wonderful daughters, Shannon and Alyssa, that attended Brazosport Christian School. My wife currently works at Freeport Elementary, where she has been a first grade teacher and now a dyslexia interventionist. While in third grade, a tragic accident led me to faith in Jesus Christ. Throughout the years since, my walk with Christ has been similar to the Israelites traveling through the wilderness. God has used that time to provide for our needs and well as test me to know what was in my heart. In college, I served on the Baptist Student Union Executive Committee working alongside other believers to share Christ across the campus, mainly through our intramural programs. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has become an organization that is very close to me. In 1990, we started the first FCA huddle at WCJH, and when coaching at AHS, I worked with Katrina Hodge to build up the FCA there. We are active members of Brazos Pointe Fellowship. Being part of a local church has always been important to us as has bringing the message of the Gospel. While I’m looking forward to serving by leading ACS into its future, this will not happen without God’s leadership. Please pray for our school and our leadership team as we prepare for the next school year. Hebrews 3:12-14 12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
